The House Always Wins

In 2020, after 70 years of robust health, I was ambushed by a triple by-pass.

Installed in a light drenched stairwell, 70 suspended daggers remind those who pass underneath that the House Always Wins; that no matter how lucky and skilled a gambler you might be, if you continue to play, you’ll eventually and inevitably lose.

Memento mori…remember, you must die.

My intention with this work is not to be morbid. Rather, it’s the opposite, to remind us to embrace each day.

Carpe diem…seize the day.
